Alaska Woman Mariners
We Ancient Mariners, no longer actively going to sea other than for our home- packs,( subsistence caught salmon processed and stored for winter use) filming and getting our occasional sea fix’s, will provide the sea stories along with what ever pictures we can find to show the past history, pertaining to the subject.
Gals on the water now that are exciting true stories themselves and are tech- savvy enough to use small water proof cameras or be able to take along someone to film them in action, will provide the ACTION shots of what’s happening now.
Captain Anna Young
Capt. Anna Young, Artist, author and professional mariner for 38 years on the waters of Alaska and Pacific ocean has turned to film making. Changing her business name from Ruggedisland Publications to Ruggedisland Productions. She presents the first release of her TV Pilot that won the Moondance International film festival in New York City. Her TV series will include the history, present and future out look of each subject presented.
Captain Carrie McCann

Capt. Carrie McCann, has worked for the Army R&R camp in Seward for 20 something summer seasons now but that's not enough for this reasnetly widowed mariner, she is now working to get her Abel Bodied Seamans, A B license so she will have a wider range of jobs, seeing some different places like on tug boats.

Sally Wills is a musician and mother of two daughters who has lived in Homer, Alaska for the past 26 years. She fished commercially in Prince William Sound and on the Copper River Flats for both herring and salmon in the early 1990's. When asked to become involved in Anna Young’s documentary, she was inspired to write the two fishing songs that ended up in the pilot “Alaska Woman Mariners.”

Sydney ~ Jane Armstrong, is an eager young deck hand and writer working hard to get the sea time to sit for her captains license. Meanwhile she doing what ever it takes to get there, like working as a laborer on a highway job after the fishing season ended in Seward where she wants to start taking some Marine licensing classes at AVECT.
